Boy did that hit home! When my husband had a stroke and major changes to our life had to be made, I found myself with lots of things I had no place for anymore. When I faced the extremely painful prospect of getting rid of all this stuff I couldn’t use, I realized I was also having to give up my dreams. Because I’d been buying for my fantasy life. I think that’s the hold luxury goods have on us. Because, at least for a little while, we get to live the fantasy- even if it’s just in our heads. It’s what the things we love represent that makes them important. For the last five years, I’ve been learning to live for the life I have, not the life I wish I had.
@@Wildunfiltered thank you. My husband has progressed beyond any of the hopes his doctors had for him. I used to tease him that he was a stubborn old goat. Thank God he is. He never gave up. He’s still trying to improve every day. We are so blessed. Trials are painful, but the rewards are amazing.
My thoughts exactly. I realized that no one sees my bags - I literally wear them 5 min from the car to work/restaurant/store so I will invest in things people actually see: jewelry, belts, nice sweaters. I have 2 big bags (2 different never fills), 2 wallets on chains and a pochette accessories and 1 go out bag and that is more than enough.
I have to admit, I bought most of my bags because I liked the aesthetic and gave no consideration to when and where I will actually use them. Out of all of them, I only egularly use 2 😂 They are more like expensive ornaments. I'm like a Magpie... "Oooohh, pretty things, must have"
I get overwhelmed with too many bags. I’m selling my contemporary handbags and keeping a collection of a few luxury bags. Same with SLG’s. Oh and btw, at my Whole Foods Market it’s like a luxury bag show! Seriously! I needed to up my bag game. Ladies are wearing Lady Dior’s to shop for groceries. I love it! Oh, and I wear my luxury brand bags for weekend coffee shop dates with my husband.
Your collection is fabulous already, you should definitely shop your own wardrobe. I know I do, the trick is to find fabulous new (affordable) outfits to match the bags you wish to use more, this makes the outfit pop, showcases & utilises bags from your collection, but more importantly it gives you that ‘Buzz’ or feeling excitement of having something new, which I think many of us luxury shoppers get.
OMG 🎉🎉🎉 I AM NOT ALONE 😂😂🙏🙏♥️ I thought I was the only one who uses visualisation when looking at bags 😂❤!!! This is the BEST video yet , are you sure we aren't related , ..my roots are in Manchester 😂! I think this is SUCH a truly refreshing admission in the heavily overly saturated pretence world of social media , and I really admire your openness and honesty in this area 👋👋 Very few of us in reality get to actually live our dream lives , so it's only healthy is we can be frank with ourselves , especially when we are getting carried away when considering yet another purchase ! Heaven knows in these expensive times , it's even more imperative we make the right decisions to compliment our ACTUAL lives ! It doesn't mean we can't still glam it up and have fun now and again , but if you're like me , the bag will probably be sat on a table in a cafe , rather than at some swanky gala event ! AND THERE'S NOWT WRONG WITH THAT , OUR CHUCK !!! 😉❤❤xxx
You made me laugh when you mentioned your car stacked beautifully with the LV luggage in the back. The image that came to mind was of an old fashioned shiny motor car from the early 20th century… def not how my holiday goes. 😂
Deb, I love so many of your bags!! I would kill for your sequined Chanel. I think that you are covered for any event, but just in case, there's always one more bag :)
I have a couple of fantasy bags. One is the Chanel 2.55 reissue in a navy, in my fantasy it would be a rich midnight navy velvet with gold hardware, I've no idea if this exists or not. Of course, given the choice (?!) I'd want to be able to crossbody it! The second bag would be a Kelly, a small size, so possibly a mini. As for colour, this would be in Rouge H with hold hardware. In reality, I go for slouchy relaxed bags, and my favourite is the Loewe Puzzle, which I do own.
This was fun, Deb. We all have our fantasy lives where we do all sorts of exciting activities. I know I do. I will see a beautiful dress or outfit and think I need that. However, like you, I wouldn’t have anywhere to wear it.
Hi Deb! I have certainly been guilty of buying things for a fantasy lifestyle (from the highstreet) in the past. I try to generally avoid such purchases now. However, when I started to buy luxury goods, I have always thought through those purchases and pictured myself using them right now, in my daily life. If I don’t see myself using them immediately at work and at weekends, then it isn’t worth it to me. I don’t have that kind of budget to sit on a shelf 😉
Reality is we don’t need any of these bags. We just want them and nothing wrong with that. I think all fancy or big or tiny or sparkly bags can be worn anytime. Btw, I think your lizard capuccines is one of the most beautiful bags ever, along with Amelia’s sequines lady dior. Your issue is, is that it’s really hard to top the bags you already have but you still want to buy… me too so I understand. 😅
oh that fantasy life really had me thinking i was going to be an office girly with cute Dior, Louboutin, and Chanel shoes. only to learn the harsh reality that I had to park 10-20 mins away and I would have to walk in the rain and lets not forget the dark at times. to which heck no! god forbid someone comes after me I needed to be able to run. plus all this rain will ruin my shoes and also I would ruin them. idk how but when I walk I don't pay attention, getting better about it now, but omg have my shoes taken a beating. and yes I can change out of sneakers once in the office, but omg did my office get cold in the summer and winter. to which I had to have warm slippers and socks at my desk. but don't forget before getting up, I had to change into my heels lol. it became a pain and honestly why, if my office attire was okay with us wearing sneakers. so I stopped. i also noticed you cannot drive in nice shoes they will get ruined, especially if you drive a manual! yes shoes are to be worn, but holy cow not at these prices lol.
Great video! I agree, unless you’re flying in your personal jet, it would be insane to travel with LV luggage. Your sparkly Fendi is just perfect for an evening event as well as your newest colorful sequin bag. I’d wear both dressed down in denim, all day long, too. At the end of the day we tend to overthink what we can and can’t do. YOLO so enjoy 😊

Amelia once said in a video that she needs to buy things for the life she has not the life she thinks she has and that has stuck with me ❤
Yes! Best motto to live by. I love buying pretty tops, dresses and heels but I rarely go out 😅 if I wouldn’t wear it to school pick up I won’t buy it!
Very true x
So wise ❤
Fully embrace the fantasy life I say, I make your ordinary extraordinary- like wearing your sequin Chanel during the day!
I took the sequin Chanel to a spa day event and loved it! Who am I? X

I’m so the same!
I get so drawn to fantasy life bags! But now I am using them to go to the grocery store!
Yes Amelia!!!
Love this swing away from the relentless aspirational hunt to using , appreciating and ENJOYING what we already have ! 🙏❤️❤️
Glad you enjoy it!

I think that’s how it should be. Use your bags when you want… even at the groceries lol I have taken my petite malle in Costco 😂
Love this!

I can't help that feel for many people, luxury bags are for the fancy life
Maybe we can use them whenever? X

lol. Love this! So true. Real life isn’t quite how we visualise.
Honestly a satchel, tote and WOC is really all you need to fit every single occasion. Maybe a backpack? lol that’s it
So true but we love what we love x
Wish I had seen this 25 years ago!
It’s never too late x
What fun to learn about your husband! I guess I assumed you were single? It sounds like he has his hobby (cycling) and you have yours (handbags!)
Oh yes i mention him quite a lot on my Channel x
